Wiigwaasgamig “Birch Bark House” Sacred Fire Arbour

91Ƭ completed the Wiigwaasgamig “Birch Bark House” Sacred Fire Arbour in 2017, situated outside the Indigenous Student Centre, Enji Maawnjiding. It serves as a site for spiritual ceremonies, teachings, and community events.

The arbour was funded by 91Ƭ and the 91Ƭ Students’ Union (SCSU) and named by Elders-in-Residence, Barbara Nolan and Ted Recollet. “Wiigwaasgamig,” meaning Birch Bark House in Anishinaabemowin, reflects traditional teachings and the arbour’s design.
